Chillin' Selkirk Style

What a perfect BC interior weekend. There were moments this weekend that were a little bit dream like.
We headed off with Walter and Michelle in their VW van. Loic and I stretched out our legs as we sat on the back bench and were instantly in love with the Westy (we were also huge fans of Walter's tape collection). Michelle and I eagerly cracked open a beer as we bumped along a little backroad near Enderby. As we sang to Paul Simon/Dance mix 94/Beatles we enjoyed the evening light and lush countryside. It seemed like we were literally "in the middle of nowhere" when we pulled up to a little house, turned bowling alley, turned live music venue/restaurant -Lorenzo's Cafe. We climbed up the stairs to the porch and into the house. The tables were arranged on the main floor of the bowling alley and the stage was on a lower floor, surrounded by a railing made with vintage bowling pins. We had a great time drinking wine and listening (but mostly dancing) to Shane Philip. We even managed to get in a couple of bowls... outside!! Yes, Lorenzo's has an outdoor bowling alley on the back porch. Hardwood bowling lane and all. It was great fun knocking down the pins and running up the lane to re-stack the pins for the next go.
That night, we poached camping and had a refreshing late night swim in Mara lake. The next day, we went to the Revelstoke Farmer's Market and then went climbing at Begbie Bluffs. After Michelle and I went for a trail run, we met up with the guys and had a picnic lake side and feasted on market goodies. We poached camping again and set up the Westy right beside a climbing wall. Walter and Loic took turns belaying from the comfort of the VW. The next morning Walter made us a delicious fried egg breakfast made in the Westy (we love that van!!!!) and then it was more climbing and swimming until we hit the highway home.
