Shoulder Season? What Shoulder season???
So, this seems to have become a regular weekend plan. Road bike one day and ski the other. Saturday I went on a 74 k road bike on my own little tour de kelowna. It was beautiful, minus the periods of drizzling rain and the wet roads. Other than numb feet, it was very enjoyable. Follow that with a nice afternoon run to Paul's tomb with a crew of 6, it was an awesome saturday (oh ya, and to T's delight we did yard work too!!). Sunday I got picked up early by Ian. We swung by Winfield to pick up Chris and busted out to Gorge Creek. We got to within 100m of where we were going to park and then we came face to face with three big trucks. The had just spent an hour digging and turning around and figured that it would get to soft later and they would be really stuck. They helped us turn around and we drove down 2 km to another parking pullout. The sweet part was that they towed us up the road on their sleds! Good deal, saved us at least an hour. They continued and went to ski somewhere else, and we went up the usually way following an almost buried skin track. The sun came in and out and the haze prevented any warming of the snow despite warm skinning temps. The skiing was awesome!
Tess met up with Emma on sunday and they drove to Penticton to go for a ride. She said it was spectacular, with nice weather and beautiful little roads. We'll definitely have to go back.
