XTC Squamish

Well I knew that my first off-road triathlon was going to be rather epic but this weekend was beyond expectations! It all began with a convoy of the Crosthwaite's Golf and our Matrix. We had 4 bikes, gear and T, Yannick, Peter and I and we were cruising to Whister through Lillooet. The short of it is the Golf launch a pavement to gravel transition in a construction zone and toasted the oil pan. Luckily some DH bikers in a huge truck stopped shortly after and took a bunch of our gear and Ian too.

The rest of the weekend was 4 racers, two spectators, 6 bikes, one matrix! We made it work. T bought her new bike in Whistler and sold her old within 6 hours after that! Worked out great. Big thanks to Emma's parents who let us use their rental condo in Whistler which was awesome! Especially since it was a wet weekend (go figure!) and camping would have been rough!

The race was a blast! There was a bit of jostling for position between the dudes but it ended with the same placings as we were exiting the swim course. We are pretty sure Ian is doping because that is just insane old man strength!!
