Tess wasn't feeling 100% so I took off without her for a weekend of skiing. I drove down to Revy with Joel and stayed with him and his dad Denis in they pretty much completed place. It's really come together and there are only a couple of minor things left. The spare room is even fully furnished!!
Anyway, Saturday Joel showed me up Mt Begbie which he had been a couple of times earlier in the year. The climb is sustained and after 4 hrs you've gained 1400 m and have broken into the alpine below the peak. It was snowing so visibility was poor and we didn't venture much above treeline. We traversed over a bit in search of the ellusive perfect line Joel had been guided down by a local some weeks before. Well, we missed. Skied some epic chute with a nice mandatory huck and into some super nice pillow lines that converged into the creek bed. The top 700 m was awesome but then the snow started to get heavy and it was a complete shit show skiing out the creek at the bottom (at least on tele's!!). One mega run, lots left to explore.
Sunday, we joined some locals up Corbin Pass. Another new area for me so I was stoked. Dave drove out from Salmon Arm expected to ski the resort but was game so we had a group of 6. It was another one run day with 1300 m vertical. You end up right at the ridgeline with amazing views of the northern Selkirks. Wow! Sunny all the way up, getting a tan and sweating a lot. At the top the clouds rolled in and it dropped five degrees in minutes. The wet sun layer that had begun to form froze up and made wild noises as you skied. You didn't feel it all and it was easily knee deep. It was smiles all around!!
No camera for the weekend, going light! I should have brought the small one at least for sunday but what can you do. I guess go ski again this weekend!
