BW & Gorge Creek

Tess and I finally made it up to Big White. Neither of us had ever skied there before so it was fun exploring a new mountain, and we were lucky to have our local guide Markus to show us around. We found some really good pockets in trees and the whole resort was soft from a huge dump earlier last week.

On Sunday, we joined up with Joël and Keara and headed up to Malakwa for a day trip. It was a great day that started with buying and then using chains on Keara's Jetta named "Jenny", and culminated with a great run down from the ridgeline N of the parking. It was Keara's first time, and since we skied first tracks (nothing else in site) all day she certainly became hooked. That is...also hooked on the fact that she will be on skis next time rather than huffing up on snowshoes with her board on her back! I must say it looked like a lot of work, and it wasn't easy on skis to begin with as we were breaking trail with at least 30 cm penetration. We finally made it to the ridge after a leg busting number of kickturns (who's fault was that?!), and had a great run right back to the car. Yet another awesome powder day!

Check out the photos and T's videography.
