Spring Break Woo Woo!!

Well... Tess I had an awesome spring break. It all began with some major ruckus in E-town with her brother Spencer visiting, and then progressed nicely to meeting coincidentally with Steve and Aoife along the Icefield Parkway on Sunday for an amazing day of skiing in at probably 40 cm of fresh snow. The week progressed with visits to Revelstoke, Vernon, Kelowna, and stop over in Merritt to visit Mo and Nona, an afternoon climbing in Skaha and a beautiful camp along lake Okanagan.

Just before heading back east, a surprise interview caused for some early morning chaos with me shaving and changing in the washroom at Overwaitea and then being late due the abhorrent traffic across the bridge in Kelowna... alas, it did end up in a job offer! So, now racking our brains about what to do, we headed east the back way through Nakusp. Two ferries and a lot of winding highway roads (They don't understand straight lines in BC??) and we made it to Revelstoke.

The following day was spent up Loop Brook in the Pass. A sunny day with good snow up high made for yet another gorgeous day of spring skiing. A definite favourite spot. I tried to revenge my double drop which sent me cartwheeling in partial whiteout conditions in February, but no...too much snow.. they were just part of a nice steep pitch where some wicked turns were had!! We then met up with my pa and bro in golden and enjoy the sunshine and slush at kickinghorse for two days and then finished off with a nice tour up towards Crowfoot pass. There was 15 cm of fresh but slight slabbing above treeline which resulted in a worrisome skicut where I let a ping pong table size slab go with a pretty fracture line 10-15cm. We skied the mellow pitch beside and spent the rest of the day skiing around tree line which proved to be super fun with lots of pillows to drop. A backcountry jib session.
