My dad completed the 40 km Marcia Longa in northeast Italy today in a mere 2 hr 29 min earning him a fourth place age group finish (50-59). With a metre of fresh snow in the last week, conditions were most likely quite soft and a little slower than anticipated on the gradually downhill course that weaves through several small villages on it's way down the valley. He was also the top Canadian finisher in the 40 km race and perhaps next year he'll go back to challenge the full 72 km World Loppet course!!
