Another wicked race on the coast! This year Tess decided to join in on the action and we completed the Sport Course as a team! Tess rocked it and we were leading coming out of the kayak and for the rest of the race until right near the end where we had trouble finding a check point and got passed!! So close!
Yannick and Danielle as well as Matt and Haley raced the long course and killed it! We crossed paths out on course right where a photographer was stationed!
That is the exciting part of adventure racing!
Traveling with Taio is a bit more of a challenge but isn't slowing us down. We took the week prior to Momar off so that we could slowly make our way out there and enjoy some family time. We started with some fun mountain biking in Merritt and then some camping at Cultus Lake and then on the Island at Sproat Lake before ending up in Tofino. We were very fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day in Pacific Rim National Park and we did two great hikes leading to different beaches. It was a blast to hike with Taio and get his feet in the sand and the ocean!
The forecast quickly was heading south so we booked into a great little A frame cabin on the beach just on the edge of Tofino. The next two days rained 70 mm and 50 mm so we were happy to be out of the wetness!
After enjoying the Coast and Tofino we headed back to Courtenay to visit with Grandpa Greg and then Tessa and get ready for the race.
