Dutchies in the Desert!

This July my Cousin Dawi from Holland and his girlfriend Josine came to BC for some adventure. Dawi has been here maybe 8 or 9 times and he has joined my family on everything from ski vacations to ten day canoe trips so he is no stranger to the Canadian wild, but I think this was definitely something new for Josine. They spent a couple of days in Vancouver before they came over to Kelowna. We wasted no time and quickly had them roped up for some climbing, wine tasting, and swimming in the lake! We even managed to get Dawi on a short mtn bike ride up knox even though it was 35 deg! It was super fun times with lots of good food and laughs. During the week they chilled a couple of days in town and then rented a car to tour the Kootenays. We met them Friday night in Cherryville and he headed into the Monashees for a weekend of hiking!

By the time we left the parking lot for Twin lakes it was 8:30 and we had to hike the last part to the lakes in the dark but I guess it's all part of the adventure! The next day we did a fun scramble up one of the peaks and also some wicked boot skiing on the snow. The swimming was stupid cold but fun as always and the only downer was the number of black flies.... brutal!

Check out the pictures from both weekends by following the link on the right.
